Although the CONFIDENCE served in Alaskan waters for seventeen years and pulled many Bering Sea patrols and search and rescue missions in the Gulf of Alaska, there were many concerns regarding the handling of the ship in heavy seas. These ships are famous for having a propensity to roll and a beam wind could cause a list and rolls of more than 30 degrees were common.
